The Restaurant – serviced by the adjoining kitchen – is open for overnight guests and participants of special retreat or dietary programs offered by the Monastery. Additionally, à la carte reservations are also welcome by lunch or diner.
Consuming the chef’s sophisticated, healthy, and tasty international creations under the newly restored frescoes of the Refectory is an unforgettable experience, in no small part due also to the remarkably attentive service to match the culinary delights.
Guests arrive at the Monastery with the intent to rest, and rejuvenate themselves in body and spirit. The gastronomy on offer in the Restaurant is based on the Latin proverb Mens sana in corpore sano or A sound mind in a sound body. This concept supports the rejuvenation process, as the menus are assembled to facilitate relaxation and focus on retreat. We help our guests to take full advantage of their retreat by
• serving light meals so that gastrointestinal discomfort would not disturb our guests;
• preparing dishes with fresh, quality ingredients that are combined to make healthy dishes appealing to various tastes;
• offering meals assembled according to the fundaments of healthy dining: ionized, purified, 9.5 pH alkaline water; no use of white sugar, white flour, flavor enhancers; separation of proteins and carbohydrates.
A hearty breakfast is included in the room rate, and guests may also select optional lunch and dinner courses.
Eusebius’ Wine (Özséb bora) – a handmade wonder of Gróf Buttler Winery – is one of the top Hungarian specialties on offer in the Restaurant. This Cabernet Sauvignon – made of grapes from Szarkás Hill Vineyard – is a full-bodied, well-balanced dry red wine with a creamy texture, and subtle notes of blackberry, earth, and chocolate.
Special nutritional programs for groups are available by request (e.g. detox programs, such as juice fasting, etc.)
